“What a delightful concert last night as always – and especially so given how we have been starved of cultural delights over recent months.”
Simon and Veronica, audience members at Christmas concert, 2020
Welcome to Petros Singers, West London’s leading amateur chamber choir. We perform a wide variety of music – from baroque to contemporary, from large-scale works to exquisite miniatures – placing particular emphasis on vibrant and communicative singing. Repertoire is often idiosyncratic, going beyond the typical canonical works to shine a light on forgotten masterpieces and rare choral treasures.
We give three or four concerts each year, mainly in West London but also regularly in major venues in Central London and sometimes further afield. As part of our ambitious concert programme, we regularly collaborate with top-class soloists and orchestras such as Dame Emma Kirkby, London Mozart Players and The Marian Consort.
We’re delighted to have Richard Bannan as our Musical Director. A professional baritone, vocal coach, teacher and conductor, Richard skilfully guides us through a challenging repertoire while bringing out the best in our performance.
The choir has around 40 auditioned singers and we take great pleasure in singing beautiful music to a high standard. Voice training is a regular feature of rehearsals, both from Richard and from invited guest conductors.
We organise regular open singing workshops led by renowned conductors or voice coaches. We also offer members individual singing lessons with the experienced singer, teacher and conductor, Toby Ward. Lessons can be booked on an occasional basis and are held during rehearsals in a separate room adjacent to our main rehearsal space.
We rehearse every Tuesday evening during term time from 8.00 to 9.45 pm in St Peter’s Church, Black Lion Lane, W6 9BE, on the borders of Hammersmith and Chiswick (Stamford Brook or Ravenscourt Park tubes).
