“What a warm welcome I received – it was great to be among friendly choir members. The choice of music is interesting and challenging in a most enjoyable way.”
Maryan Balkwill, Soprano
We are currently recruiting tenors and bass 2, and will also consider bursary places in any voice part, subject to audition. Our next open rehearsals and auditions will take place on 12th and 19th September 2023, so please contact our Membership Officer to register your interest in joining us.
Our rehearsals take place on Tuesday evenings during term time from 8.00 to 9.45pm at St Peter’s Church, Black Lion Lane, W6 9BE on the borders of Hammersmith and Chiswick (Stamford Brook or Ravenscourt Park tubes).
Choir membership is by audition. These generally take place in the first two weeks of each term, although other times would be considered. Your audition would take place at the end of either your first or second rehearsal, giving you the chance to meet and sing with the choir.
If you wish to proceed, you would sing privately to Richard Bannan, our musical director. The process is relaxed and friendly – Richard is as interested in finding out what you may be able to do in the future as hearing what you can do now. Ideally bring a short piece you know well (either a solo or a choral extract is fine); you will then be taken through a few exercises to assess your vocal range, sight-reading and ear.
We are keen to recruit singers aged between 16 and 27 under our Young Singers’ Bursary Scheme.
Singers are expected to attend all rehearsals and take part in the concert at the end of each term. Please see our FAQs for more information about what’s involved in being a choir member.
